Post (restricted items)

Royal Mail and Parcelforce have a list of items that either cannot be sent by post, or are subject to restrictions, due to safety reasons.

The list is extensive, and includes specific guidelines about the packaging required, and whether you need to alert counter staff regarding the contents of any packages or parcels you are sending.

An example of the items that are subject to restrictions include some:

  • Aerosols;
  • Alcoholic drinks, depending on alcohol by volume;
  • Batteries;
  • Electric devices with lithium batteries;
  • Nail varnish, polish or gel; and
  • Perfumes or aftershave, where volume exceeds 30ml.
